Different jobs, some overlap

CleanShot is the tool you press a shortcut for many times a day: grab a screenshot, mark it up, copy the text out of it, or record a quick clip and send a link. Its Studio Mode now adds smart zooms and a smoother cursor to recordings. 240fps for Mac is built for the recording you'll edit and publish: automatic zooms, captions, titles, scenes and transitions, then a device mockup or a store video from the same recording. Plenty of people will want both.

Sharing

CleanShot Cloud uploads a capture and gives you a link, with comments, transcripts and, on Pro, a custom domain and team controls. 240fps is download-only, with no share links: you export the file and post it where you like.

Choose CleanShot X if…

  • You want one app for everyday screenshots: scrolling capture, annotation, text recognition and pinned screenshots.
  • You share captures by link with a team, with comments, SSO and your own domain.
  • Your Mac runs macOS 13 or 14: CleanShot needs macOS 13 or later, and 240fps for Mac needs macOS 15 on Apple silicon.

Choose 240fps if…

  • You make edited product demos and want captions, scenes and transitions in them.
  • You also make device mockups, product videos or App Store and Google Play screenshot sets.
  • You want updates included: 240fps Lifetime is $39 once with every update; CleanShot Basic includes one year.

Questions

Is 240fps a CleanShot X alternative?

For edited screen recordings, yes: automatic zooms, a smoothed cursor, captions, scenes and transitions, for $39 once or $7 a month. It doesn't replace CleanShot's everyday screenshot tools or its share links.

Can CleanShot X zoom into screen recordings?

Yes. Its pricing FAQ says CleanShot 5.0 introduced Studio Mode, which adds animated zooms to a recording, and its features page lists smooth cursor movement and click effects.
